We’ve been working with Jeff Lang since 2008. This Australian legend has toured the world countless times over and after visiting Ireland for over ten years, we linked up with Jeff to book and promote a succession of tours, radio and TV appearances in 2008 and 2009. Jeff is provisionally slated to tour Ireland again in 2010 following the release of his latest album, Chimeradour, currently on release in Australia. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jeff Lang is world renowned as a prolific artist who has defied categorization by bending and blurring genres to create his own ever-evolving sound from the base ingredients of Folk, Rock, Blues, Experimental and World music styles. The road he has travelled over this past decade has yielded the rewards of many a hard-working musician’s dreams – widespread acclaim, a devoted fan base, an exemplary back catalogue, an ARIA Award in addition to countless nominations, invitations to the world’s most prestigious festivals, and coveted tours with such icons as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.

So it’s fitting that the title of Lang’s transcendent new album, Chimeradour, suggests the life of the travelling troubadour as well as conjuring the chimera: a fantastic creature from Greek mythology of many parts; swift-footed with a lion’s face, a serpent’s body and a fiery breath.

Chimeradour is a spectral and many-faceted sonic journey. A voracious musical explorer, Lang has absorbed and transformed many rich influences in the course of his collaborations with musicians from Mali to Mumbai.

The echoes of African desert blues reverberate in the rolling, hypnotic lap slide guitar work on South, whilst the driving guitar rock of Slow Rooms and Half Blurred Faces suggests the ragged glory of Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

The blues is always present in Lang’s music, tempered with expansive jazz modalities on The Janitor – the menacing closing soliloquy – and searing electric picking on the album’s only cover, Richard Thompson’s eerie lullaby End of the Rainbow. Lang commands atmospherics worthy of Bill Frisell or Daniel Lanois on the impressionistic opening track Two Worlds, then musters a darkly poetic rock’n'roll mood on Edge of the Light, which sounds like a jam session with Ed Kuepper and Jimmy Page in the back of a four-wheel drive, somewhere in the Sahara desert.

Lang has spent much of the past two years touring all corners of the world, most recently the Fuji Rock and Asagari Jam Festivals (Japan), Safiko World Music Festival (Reunion Island), Quebec Summer Festival and Ottawa Blues Festival in Canada. He was the first artist in residence of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival and recently toured China.

Chimeradour captures the blazing dynamism of Lang’s live performance with his virtuosic accompanists, Grant Cummerford on bass and Danny McKenna on drums, at full tilt. The album was recorded by legendary producer Mark Opitz, known for his work on countless classic albums by Cold Chisel, INXS, AC/DC, The Angels and Divinyls.

The 12 compelling songs of Chimeradour are miniature character studies drawn as much from the emotions Lang wrings from his guitar as from the imagery of his rapid fire lyrics. Revered piano man Don Walker sits in on Another One Of These Days and The Janitor, contributing his subtly magnificent finishing touches to this iconic and vital new Australian album.

Saving J

We’ve been working with Saving J since the band’s first single release of Bus Stop. Since then we’ve helped the band maintain a solid and growing online presence, also providing artwork for singles Valentine, Kick Off, Indication Street, Everything and debut album This City Street. We’ve handled and monitor the online distribution of all of the bands releases and hooked up with Mycrofilms to produce the Kick Off music video.

Clive Barnes

We’ve been working with Clive since 2008, under our original My Music umbrella. Since then we’ve been booking some of Clive’s shows and tours, managing his tour promotion and most recently the promotion and online distribution of his fourth studio album, The Ghost Country, released in September 2009. Through Event Media we also developed the album’s artwork and promotional imagery for the 2009 Ghost Country tour.

His fourth studio album, The Ghost Country elevates Barnes to a truly unique sound having forged his style and delivery over years of touring the US and Europe with the likes of Eric Bibb, Taj Mahal, Jeff Beck, Alison Krauss, Seasick Steve, The Blind Boys of Alabama and many more.

As a musician, Barnes is highly regarded as one of the finest performers on the roots circuit, a reputation solidified by the lyrical and songwriting prowess on this new collection of songs. Von Bizmark

We started working with Von Bizmark at the tail end of 2009, primarily to organise their online presence and book a select number of dates in new venues for the band to promote then current single London. During 2010 we’ll be working with the band on the release of some singles and EPs, as well as managing their bookings, tours, online and offline promotion and distribution.

About Von Bizmark

Von Bizmark are an indie/rock four-piece based in Dublin, Ireland.

Formed in 2007, Von Bizmark released their debut single London in June 2009. The two years in between have seen the band carve their own path on the indie-rock road, shaping a “harder, rockier” and distinct Von Bizmark sound, drawing influence from the Stone Roses, Biffy Clyro, Queens of the Stone Age.

The release of London marks a whole new stepping stone, evolution in their sound ultimately a new chapter in the world of music for Von Bizmark. Described as being “cinematic”, “charismatic” and brimming with “a raw underlying energy” that the band are able to take and deliver to the stage, London is reminiscent of the band’s long weekend trips to perform and record in the UK in 2008 and 2009.

The release of the single has found favour in about national and local stations in Ireland, while the track can also be heard on German and Polish airwaves following its summer release.

The band are returning to work with producer Martin Quinn at Jam Studios in preparation for their followup single and 2010 album release.
